If you are looking for ways to improve your health and wellbeing this New Year, why not start with your oral health? Research shows that dental problems can lead to serious health conditions including high blood pressure and heart disease.
We are committed to helping you and your family achieve optimal oral health and wellbeing. Here, we share some of our top New Year resolutions for a healthier smile.
Floss Daily
Brushing your teeth is essential for good oral hygiene, but it’s simply
not enough to keep your teeth completely healthy. Flossing removes food
particles that are wedged between teeth, which are hard to remove with a
toothbrush. The American Dental Association (ADA) recommends everyone floss at
least once a day. Start by breaking off about 18 inches of floss and wrapping
most of it around your two middle fingers. Hold the floss tightly between your
thumbs and forefingers as you guide the floss between your teeth. Using a C
shape motion, gently rub the floss up and down. Repeat this on every tooth.
Make Water Your
Beverage of Choice
Drinking plenty of water does more than keep your mouth refreshed. It
also washes away food particles and bacteria that are responsible for tooth
erosion and cavities. Consider swapping acidic or sugary beverages (e.g., sports
drinks, sodas, fruit juice) with water to minimize the amount of acids and
sugar your teeth come in contact with. Or, drink water in between these drinks
and meals.
Don’t Delay Dental
Treatment
Even the smallest crack or cavity can lead to serious dental
complications. Treating small or minor tooth problems early can help you avoid
serious damage, as well as invasive (and costly) dental treatments. If you have
been postponing dental treatment because of fear or anxiety, sedation dentistry
may be right for you. Cobblestone Dentistry offers sedation options to put
nervous or fearful patients at ease while we provide you with the dental care
you need. Your comfort is of utmost importance to us. Speak to our trusted team

Schedule Your Routine
Dental Cleaning and Exam
This said, you shouldn’t wait until you need dental treatment to visit
your dentist. Routine dental exams and cleanings help prevent dental health
problems from occurring in the first place. In the case that there is a problem
with your teeth, gums or mouth, your dentist can diagnose and treat it
promptly. The ADA recommends both children and adults visit their dentist for a
routine dental exam and cleaning every six months.
Ring in the New Year with a happier and healthier smile.
